Five tips for elevating your apartment (you’ll love number 5!)

1. Embrace Multi-Functional Furniture:

In a small apartment, every inch counts. Opt for furniture that serves multiple purposes, like a sofa bed for guests or a coffee table with hidden storage. These pieces save space and add functionality to your home.

2. Maximize Vertical Space:

Think upwards! Use shelves and wall-mounted racks to keep things off the floor. Floating shelves are great for displaying decor, books, or plants, adding warmth and personality to your space. You can also minimally decorate your floor shelves to create the illusion of space with minimal decor while still adding comfort and personality. For my shelf, since I don’t have floating shelves, I staggered the decor on my shelf while also keeping it functional. I decorated the area with some plants to warm it up!

3. Create a Color Scheme:

A cohesive color palette can make your space feel larger and more harmonious. Choose a base color and accentuate with complementary hues. Soft, light colors can make a room feel airy, while bold accents add depth and interest. I stick with a few bold colors and keep it monochromatic.

4. DIY Decor:

Personalize your space with DIY projects. Whether it’s upcycling old furniture, creating your own wall art, or knitting a cozy blanket, these personal touches make your apartment truly feel like home. I keep a granny square knit blanket on my couch that my grandma made me for Christmas. She also knew the colors that I like and added some pink into the blanket so it is really personalized for my space.

5. Lighting is Key:

Good lighting can transform the mood of your space. Use a mix of overhead, ambient, and task lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. String lights, candles, and lamps can add a cozy vibe to your evenings. With an apartment, you can also have fun with the lighting. I used a neon light strip and placed it on the wall to create a fun neon vibe in the evenings!
